YTL Green Data Center Full Scope Installation

Project Overview

Superior Machinery was appointed to deliver a full-scope lifting, moving, and installation solution for the state-of-the-art YTL Green Data Center, a landmark collaboration with Nvidia in Johor, Malaysia's emerging data center powerhouse. The project centered on the complex installation of multiple 26-ton data center cooling units onto the facility's roof.

The Challenge

The primary challenge involved a multi-stage installation process. The heavy and sensitive cooling equipment had to be lifted to the rooftop and then precisely maneuvered across the roof surface to be installed onto designated concrete plinths. This required a carefully engineered solution that combined heavy lifting capacity with delicate, close-quarters machinery moving techniques on a structurally sensitive rooftop environment.

Our Solution

Our engineering team devised an innovative two-crane strategy combined with specialized machinery moving systems. This integrated approach ensured maximum safety and efficiency:

• A 300-ton heavy-lift mobile crane was positioned at ground level to perform the main lift, hoisting each 26-ton cooling unit from the delivery vehicle to the data center roof.
• A smaller, 50-ton mobile crane was strategically positioned on the roof itself to receive the units, providing the agility needed for initial placement.
• Once on the roof, our expert machinery moving team utilized advanced jacking and skidding systems to safely slide and position each unit with millimeter accuracy onto its final concrete plinth for installation.
• The entire operation was managed under a single, comprehensive lift and move plan, ensuring seamless coordination between the ground and rooftop crews.
